Quick Bio

William Pedersen was born in the United States of America in 1938. He has degrees in architecture from the University of Minnesota and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received several prizes including Roma prize for Architecture in 1965. He is the founding design partner of Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF), which was the youngest firm to receive the National AIA Firm Award for design excellence. Their buildings have won 9 National AIA Honor Awards. Seven of them were William´s designs. One of the biggest concern to Bill has been the development of what he calls the “fundamental building block of the modern city”: the high-rise commercial office building. He has been finding a way how for buildings of this seemingly-mundane type to connect with its neighbors in an active architectural conversation. Bill lectures internationally and serves on academic and professional juries and symposia.
