Lasvit’s Glassmakers Breathe New Life Into the Derelict Chřibská Glassworks

Published 13 Nov 2018

Chřibská is known to be the longest operating glassworks in Europe. It´s history dates all the way back to the beginning of the 15th century, but the birthplace of this beautiful craft will no longer produce any glass products. LASVIT decided to step in and to revive its legacy.

To rescue the legacy of Chřibská 1414, LASVIT created something that will bring the brand to life.

It took some detective work to replicate the production of the famous glassworks. LASVIT cooperated with historians, glassmakers, and studied the portfolios of artisans who used to work at Chřibská in the old days.

Finally, the glassblowers in LASVIT AJETO achieved to create pieces that can proudly bear the name “Chřibská 1414”, to commemorate the birthplace of glassworks which is situated in the Lužice hills and to honor the legacy of Czech glass. Would you like to see the collection in all its glory? Stay tuned!
