Frames by Mária Čulenová shown alongside Czech design leaders at Designblok 2025

The idea behind Frames was to depict the very thin border that lies between our inner and outer worlds, reminding us of the precious moments in life when we feel fulfilled and joyful. Frames can be windows, doors, skylights, or everything that connects our indoor sanctuary with the outside world. For Designblok 2025, a floor lamp from this concept will be presented at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague (UPM).

 

 

 

The Courage at Museum of Decorative Arts

 

The main exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague follows this year’s Designblok theme, Courage, subtitled Between Unity and Diversity: Women in Architecture, Design, and Applied Arts. Curated by Michaela Kádnerová of the Moravian Gallery and Designblok’s Program Board, the exhibition reflects courage as an energy that manifests in many forms through the will and desire to create meaningfully. For women in particular, courage has often been a key ingredient to succeed in fields still predominantly male.

 

 

The show draws attention not only to the works but also to the stories of their authors, spotlighting twenty creators across three generations — women as makers, companions, inspirations, mentors, students, and friends. Exhibiting designers include Eva Eisler, Kateřina Handlová, Lucie Koldová, Zuzana Lednická, Liběna Rochová, Lada Semecká, Nikola Logosová, Šárka Radová, Lenka Míková, Bára Škorpilová, and others. Completing this distinguished lineup is Mária Čulenová, head of the Lasvit Design Team, presenting her acclaimed concept Frames.
