Metro Station Českomoravská is a place of constant movement. Trains arrive, passengers pass through, the city flows beneath the surface. Air moves with it, circulating through tunnels and platforms. Here, it shapes the architectural identity of the space.

What moves invisibly through the station is materialised. In this architectural glass installation, air is captured and held in place, translated into a surface that shapes how the space is perceived. “The concept of the station is air as an essential condition of movement underground. We chose to enclose it between layers of hand-crafted fused glass, where it transforms into a system of bubbles that define the character and structure of the space,” explains Lasvit Art Director Maxim Velčovský.

Translating this concept into material required precision and control. Each panel was created by fusing layers of glass with a carefully distributed glass frit between them, allowing air to form an organic pattern. Produced at Lasvit Fusing in Nový Bor, a heart of Czech glassmaking, the panels were handcrafted as individual pieces, their composition balanced to create a continuous and immersive environment across the station. Thousands of passengers pass through the space each day, carried by the rhythm of the city. Against this constant motion, the glass remains still.
